Victor Blackwell is an American television news anchor and correspondent. He co-anchors CNN Newsroom Saturday mornings with Randi Kaye and New Day Sunday. He is based in CNN’s world headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.
Blackwell attended Milford Mill Academy in 1999 where he was class president of his high school graduating class. He then attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. where he earned a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism.

While in college, Blackwell worked at Howard University’s public television station WHUT-TV. After college, he worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor at WHAG-TV in Hagerstown, MD. Victor also worked as a reporter and weekend anchor at WTLV/WJXX in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the first black main anchor at WPBF in West Palm Beach, Florida. There, he served as an anchor for the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. newscasts.

Blackwell has reported and anchored on-the-scene for many breaking news stories which include Hurricanes Harvey and Irma (2017), the Orlando shooting at Pulse Nightclub (2016), and protests in his hometown of Baltimore following the death of Freddie Gray (2015). He did exclusive reporting on the death of Georgia teen Kendrick Johnson (2013) and Superstorm Sandy recovery (2012).
In 2018, he marked the 50 year anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s death where he coordinated an exclusive interview with civil rights icons Ambassador Andrew Young and Reverend Jesse Jackson at the Memphis motel where Luther was gunned down. It was the first time the two visited together since Luther’s death.
