Ronny Jackson is an American retired United States Navy rear admiral, politician, and great physician who is the U.S representative for Texas’s 13th congressional district. In mid-2000s Jackson joined the White House Medical Unit where he served as a Physician to the president.
Ronny Lynn Jackson started his official duty Naval Service in 1995 at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, where he completed his internship in Transitional Medicine, and in 1996 he became the Honor Graduate of the Navy’s Undersea Medical Officer Program in Groton, Connecticut. He qualified in submarine and hyperbaric medicine, Jackson then took on operational assignments including instructor at the Navy’s Diving and Salvage Training Center in Panama City.
In 2001, he returned to Portsmouth Naval Medical Center where he started his residency in emergency medicine where he finished at the top of his class thus receiving the honor graduate designation. After completing his residency in 2004, Jackson was assigned as clinical faculty in the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia.
In 2005 Jackson joined the 2nd Marine Logistics Group, Combat Logistics Regiment 25, in North Carolina. He was then deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as the emergency medicine physician in charge of the resuscitative medicine for the Surgical Shocks Trauma Platoon in Taqaddum, Iraq. In 2006 while he was still in Iraq, he was chosen as a White House Physician. It was during his tenure at the White House when he directed the Executive Health Care for the president’s cabinet and also the senior staff. Jackson served in the White House Medical Unit for three Administration and he was then appointed physician for Obama. he held the rank of Captain on May 1, 2010, until October 2016 when he was promoted to lower half rank of rear admiral and later he was promoted to the upper half of rear admiral on March 20, 2018, but retired at lower half rank in 2018.
During President Donald Trump’s administration, Jackson was added a title of Deputy Assistant to the president. He became close to the president when he delivered a press conference praising the president’s good genes and claimed that if the president had a healthier diet in the past 20 years, he might live for 200 years. Jackson was criticized and he was accused of misstating the President’s height and weight to minimize his obesity. In December 2019 Jackson filed to run for Congress in Texas’s 13th congressional district. The seat became vacant when 13th-term Republican Mac Thornberry announced he would not seek reelection again. on July 14 Jackson and former Texas cattle Feeder Association Lobbyist Josh Winegarner faced each other on an election for the nomination and Jackson defeated Lobbyist Josh, 55.58% to 44.42 %. In 2020 Jackson won the election taking 79.4% which was a huge win because since 1994 no Democrat has ever crossed the 45% mark in the district.
