Ron Mott Biography

Ron Mott is an American television news correspondent from Kansas City, Kansas. Mott works for NBC News and is a regular contributor to Today, NBC Nightly News, and MSNBC.

While he was in high school, he was selected as an on-air correspondent for the NBC News series, “Main Street,” hosted by former “Today” co-anchor Bryant Gumbel.

Mott was a news reporter and fill-in anchor with television stations in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri, and in Burlington, Vermont. Much of his career was in the sports industry before transitioning to television news. He worked in the public relations office of the Kansas City Chiefs; was a sports writer at the Kansas City Star. He has also served as a newspaper reporter/writer for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). He spent two years as communications and public relations director for a subsidiary company owned by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus.

He also covered the Duke lacrosse sexual assault case and a series of church arsons in Alabama.
