A High School Career
Despite substantial interest from multiple prep schools, he chose to spend his four high school years at New Albany High School. As a freshman, he led his school to a 23-3 record and the regional tournament while averaging 17.1 points and 6.0 rebounds. In his sophomore year, he averaged 30.2 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game while also leading New Albany to a 27-1 record and a Class 4A state championship. This became the school’s first state title since 1973. He then went on and averaged 28.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game in his junior year, as well as leading New Albany to a 25-4 record and to the Class 4A state quarterfinals.

A Career with the Boston Celtics (2019 to 2022)
He was selected by the Boston Celtics with the 14 overall draft pick in the 2019 NBA draft. The Celtics announced on July 11, 2019, that they had signed with Romeo.
