Rick Lozano Biography
Rick Lozano is an American award-winning journalist. He has been a fixture on Los Angeles television since 1986. During Season 2 of 24, he played a reporter working for FOX News.
He is among the several real-life news reporters who have appeared in 24 as fictional newsreaders. Also, he is known for appearing on Eyewitness News (1983) and ABC7 Eyewitness News (1969). Lozano broke his career in his native of San Antonio, Texas at the age of nineteen while only a sophomore in college.
He started his broadcasting career in 1972 as a radio newscaster for KONO/KITY, before making the jump into television. Lozano then began his TV career at ABC affiliate KSAT-TV, where Rick was a general assignment reporter and weekend sportscaster. He became the regular weekday sportscaster until jumping to cross-town station KMOL the NBC affiliate as that station’s six o’clock news sportscaster within a short time. He also worked as a sportscaster for radio stations KLLS/KCCW.
For twelve years, he worked in San Antonio winning several statewide awards for best sportscaster and his sports reporting. He was lured in 1986 to the West Coast by KABC-TV as a weekend sportscaster. He later became the station’s weekday four o’clock sportscaster, where he received Emmy nominations for his work as both an anchor and reporter. This is while he covered local, national, and international events all over North America. His stay at KABC lasted thirteen years.
