Rachel Maddow is an American television host, actress, author, and political commentator. She hosts The Rachel Maddow Show, a nightly television show on MSNBC. Maddow is the first openly lesbian anchor to host a major prime-time news program in the United States.

Maddow began as a radio host on a program aired on Air America Radio. The Rachel Maddow Show began airing on the radio; in March 2008. It gained an hour broadcasting from 6 to 9 p.m Eastern Standard Time. David Bender filling in the third hour for the call-in section, when Maddow was on TV assignment. Maddow became a regular panelist on the MSNBC show, Tucker. During and after the November 2006 election, Maddow was a guest on CNN’s Paula Zahn Now.
