A College Career

While in college as a freshman at Indiana, in 2015-16, he appeared in 34 games where he averaged 6.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game. He was then selected as a Pre-season All-American by The Sporting News. However, he injured his right knee against Penn State on January 18, 2017, which cause him to undergo a season-ending knee injury. He then declared his intention to enter the 2017 NBA Draft on April 10, 2017, and hire an agent, thus ending his tenure with the Hoosiers.

A Professional Career

A Career with the Toronto Raptors (2017 to Present)

OG was selected by the Toronto Raptors on June 22, 2017, with the 23rd overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft. On July 9, he signed his rookie scale with the Raptors. He made his first career start on November 14, against the Houston Rockets. In the game he finished with 16 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal in 30 minutes. By December 15, he had led starter rookies in offensive and defensive rating, besides having the third most true scoring percentage and best turnover-to-assist ratio for a non-guard.

On January 29, 2019, he was named a member of the World Team representing the United Kingdom for the 2015 Rising Stars Challenge. However, he had an emergency appendectomy in April 2019, which caused him to miss most of the Raptors’ championship playoff run. Besides, he dressed for the NBA Finals but did not play as the Raptors went on to win the title. This made him become the first British person to win an NBA championship.
