Nick Bosa, Nicholas John Bosa is a famous American professional football defensive end for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). Bosa played college football at Ohio State and was picked 2nd overall in the 2019 NFL Draft by the 49ers. He was then named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year for having 9 sacks in the regular season and assisting his team reach Super Bowl LIV. Bosa is the son of former NFL defensive end John Bosa and the younger brother of Joey, currently a linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers.

College career

Nick played in all 13 games in 2016, recording 29 tackles, 7 of which were for a loss, and 4 sacks as a true freshman. In his sophomore year, Bosa became the starting defensive end for the Buckeyes in 7 games. He was named a unanimous First-team All-Big Ten and the Smith-Brown Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year for his 32 total tackles (14.5 for a loss) and a team-leading 7 sacks. He also had 2 pass breakups, 8 quarterback hurries, and a blocked kick.

It was then reported on September 20, 2018, that he underwent core muscle surgery, ruling him out indefinitely. He revealed that he was withdrawing from Ohio State for the rest of the season on October 16. Following the season, he opted to forgo his senior year and join the 2019 NFL Draft.

Professional career

Bosa was projected to be the first overall selection in the draft by a majority of analysts and scouts as he came out of Ohio State. He received an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine as one of the top prospects at the draft. Bosa finished all of the required combined drills and positional drills except for the 10-yard and 20-yard split. He met and interviewed with 8 NFL teams at the combine, consisting of the San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants, New York Jets, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A week prior to the draft, he was criticized by some because of his political beliefs and controversial tweets, including calling Colin Kaepernick a ”clown”, and expressing support for US president Donald Trump. 2019 season

Nick signed a 4-year contract with the 49ers worth $33.5 million. It was also featuring a $22.5 million signing bonus and a fifth-year option on July 25, 2019. He then made his NFL debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1. In the game, Bisa made 3 tackles and sacked quarterback Jameis Winston once in the 31-17 road win.
