Who is Natalie Morales?

Natalie Morales is an American journalist who is currently a co-host and moderator of the CBS Daytime talk show The Talk. Before that, she worked for NBC News for 22 years in various roles as the West Coast anchor of Today. And appeared on Dateline NBC and NBC Nightly News. From 2011 to 2016, she was Today’s news anchor and third-hour co-anchor. Morales also served as the host of Access Hollywood and Access Hollywood Live from 2016 to 2019.

Previously, she was an anchor and correspondent for MSNBC from 2002 to 2006. Morales covered a number of major news stories there. These stories include the 2004 Presidential election, the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, the Iraqi prisoner abuse, and Operation Iraqi Freedom, among others. She was also named one of Hispanic Magazine’s Top Trendsetters of 2003.

She is also an ardent runner and as a result, she has competed in five marathons which include New York City Marathons. In the October 2010 issue of Triathlete Magazine, Natalie was featured in a full-length article and also on the cover. After the Rio Summer Olympics, she moved to Los Angeles in August 2016. There, she became both the West Coast anchor of Today and Billy Bush’s replacement as host of Access Hollywood while continuing as a correspondent for Dateline.

Morales was born to a Brazilian mother, Penelope Morales, and a Puerto Rican father, Lieutenant Colonel Mario Morales, Jr. She is also fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Morales spent the first eighteen years of her life living in America and overseas in Panama, Brazil, and Spain as a “U.S. Air Force brat”.

Morales got married to Joseph Rhodes on August 22, 1998. The couple purchased a $1 million townhouse in Hoboken, New Jersey, in 2002 and expanded it in 2008 to 3,600 square feet. The Rhodes family put the Hoboken townhouse on the market after morales was made the Today show’s West Coast anchor in June 2016. The following month, the family moved into a house in Brentwood, California. The townhouse had sold for $3 million by October.


Morales and her husband welcomed their first child, a son, Josh in November 2003, via C-section at Hoboken’s St. Mary Hospital. They welcomed their second son Luke Hudson in late 2008.

in 2006, Natalie joined the Today show as a national correspondent. In March 2008, she was named co-anchor of the third hour of the show. It was then announced on May 9, 2011, that Morales would replace Ann Curry as the news anchor for Today. This is after Curry replaced Meredith Vieira as host of Today in June 2011. It was then announced in June 2016 that she would be moving west to host Access and become the Today Show West Anchor. She then stepped away from hosting Access and remained on as the Today Show West Coast Anchor in 2019.
