Who is Mike DeWine?

Mike DeWine is an American lawyer and politician currently serving as the 70th governor of Ohio, since 2019. He is a member of the Republican Party, DeWine previously served as Ohio Attorney General.

He took the position of attorney general in 2011 and left it in 2019. Moreover, in 1995 he became a US Senator until 2007. Furthermore, he has also served as a lieutenant governor of Ohio under George Voinovich starting 1991 to 1994.

Career

Mike started his career as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Greene County in Ohio at the age of 25. Moreover, in 1976, he was elected as County Prosecutor, he served in that position for a period of four years. After that, he was elected to Ohio State Senate and served one two-year term.

After the retirement of the US Representative Bud Brown of Ohio’s 7th congressional district. He was elected in November after winning the Republican nomination. After winning the first term, he was re-elected three times from this district, which spans from his Springfield home to the Columbus suburbs.

After failing to secure the Senate seat in 1992, he came back, in 1994 where he competed with Joel Hyatt, a famous lawyer. Mike confirmed his bid to run for the Attorney General of the State of Ohio on July 21, 2009. Mike endorsed Tim Pawlenty in the Republican presidential primary in 2012 However, he later endorsed Mitt Romney when Pawlenty dropped out. 2019

Mike was appointed by President Donald Trump to be part of the bipartisan council of governors on February 22. 2019.
