Michael Strahan (Michael Anthony Strahan) is an American Tv Personality, journalist, and former professional football player. As a player he played as a defensive end, he played for the New York Giant of the National Football League(NFL) for 15 years.

In 2007, he helped the Giants win Super Bowl XLII against the New England Patriots during his final season. After he retired from NFL, he decided to be a media personality. After that, he was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014.

In 2012, he co-hosted the syndicated daytime talk show Live with Kelly and Michael alongside Kelly Ripa until 2016, where he won two Daytime Emmy Awards. 2014 Michael became a frequent Good Morning America contributor. In 2016 it was confirmed that Michael was going to leave Live! and Join Good Morning America full-time.

Alongside Laura Shepard Churchley, Dylan Taylor, Evan Dick, Lane Bess, and Cameron Bess, he flew into space on December 11, 2021, aboard Blue Origin NS-19. Michael played defensive end while at Texas Southern University. While in his junior season, he started turning himself into an NFL prospect. In his senior season, he was selected All-American first team by The Poor Man’s Guide to the NFL Draft. In 1992, he was named the First Team All- Southernwestern Athletic Conference and the SWAC’d Player of the Year for two consecutive seasons. After that, he was named Black College Defensive Player of the Year. In 2014 he was positioned in the Black College Football Hall of Fame.

In 1993 he was drafted by the New York Giants, where he played only six games due to injuries and missed two playoff games that season. 1997 he had a breakout season, where he recorded 14 sacks and he was named as First Team All-Pro by Associated Press. Michael was a member of the 2000 Giants and took part in their playoff run to Super Bowl XXXV. In 2001 and 2003 he was the NFC Defensive of the Year. After that, he was named the 2001 NFL defensive player of the year. However, in 2004 he was injured for the greater part of that season. He came back in 2005, returning to the Pro Bowl, with his protege, Osi Umenyiora as the two combined for 26 sacks while anchoring the Giants’ defense. Michael is considered by many coaches, peers, and experts as the standard and best ant his position as defensive during the prime of his career. He is considered the best defensive end of all time.

On October 23, 2006, During a Monday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboys, he tied Lawrence Taylor for the Giant franchise game. After the 2006 season, Michael did not report to Giant training camp and missed the entire preseason. However, he returned for one final year. Michael’s 15th and final season proved to be the Giants’ first championship since 1990. On September 30, 2007, he fired Donovan McNabb from the Philadelphia Eagles at Sunday Night Football, increasing his career total to 133.5, setting a new franchise record.

On Sunday, February 3, 2008, at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, Strahan had two tackles and a layoff in Super Bowl XLII, in what is considered one of the greatest upheavals in NFL history. Backed by strong defense and relentless passing, the Giants won the game 17-14, against the then-unbeaten 18-0 New England Patriots, giving Strahan his first Super Bowl win as an NFL starter. His saying was “Go away!”.

On July 9, 2008, Michael decided to retire from NFL. By the time of his retirement, he had 141.5 career sacks, 854 career tackles, four career interceptions, 24 forced fumbles, and career touchdowns in 200 games over 15 years. On November 28, 2021, the Giants retired his number 92 at halftime of their game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

On June 24, 2008, it was announced that he was going to join the FOX NFL Sunday Show together with Curt Menefee and analysts Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, and Jimmy Johnson. After Fox acquired the right to broadcast Thursday Night Football in 2018, Michael was selected to host the Fox NFL Thursday pregame show alongside Bradshaw and Long. The show was aired live from New York City instead of the Fox NFL Sunday studios in Los Angeles so that it can be able to accommodate his other live show.

Good Morning America Show

On October 1, 2010, he co-hosted Live! with Regis and Kelly with Kelly Ripa for the first time when Regis Philbin was absent for that show. Philbin left in November 2011, leaving an empty seat. After twenty appearances in two years, Strahan was selected as Kelly Ripa’s new co-host on September 4, 2012. This marked his first official day on the talk show renamed Live! with Kelly and Michael.

Ratings increased instantly, generating substantial year-over-year slots earnings across all major demographics, outpacing the closest competition, NBC’s 4th Hour Today Show, by 87%. On April 19 2016 Michael left the Live show to join Good Morning America as a full-time host.

In 2018, Strahan began co-hosting a Good Morning America spin-off daytime talk show, originally titled GMA Day, alongside Sara Haines. ABC announced in 2016 that Michael would be hosting a summer revival of The $100,000 Pyramid. And would air on Sunday nights along with the Steve Harvey-hosted Celebrity Feud and the Alec Baldwin-hosted Match Game as part of a “Sunday Fun & Games” lineup. Since then, the series has been renewed for six seasons. Because of COVID-19, Pyramids did not air in the summer of 2020.
