Who is Meredith Vieira?

Meredith Vieira is an American broadcast journalist, and television personality best known for being the initial moderator of the daytime talk show The View (1997–2006).

She serves as the host of the syndicated weekday game show 25 Words or Less. She joined the show in the fall of 2019. The show which is based on a board game, pairs contestants with celebrities. This is in an effort to guess a list of five words using less than 25 words in total.

She was also the original host of the syndicated daytime version of the game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (2002–2013). From 2006 to 2011, Vieira co-hosted the NBC morning news program Today.

She began her journalism career as a news announcer for WORC radio in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1975. She did afternoon drive news during the B. J. Dean Show. Her television career began at WJAR-TV in Providence where she worked as a local reporter. She eventually landed into the newsroom serving as an investigative reporter at WCBS-TV in New York City from 1979 to 1982.

She then became a CBS reporter based in its Chicago bureau from 1982 to 1984. her appearance there made her gain national recognition. Meredith later became a correspondent for nationwide news-magazine shows including West 57th from 1985 to 1989 and also 60 minutes from 1989 to 1991.
