Maya Indea Jama is a well-recognized English television, and radio presenter, and DJ. Jama co-presented BBC One’s Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer together with Peter Crouch and Alex Home. She is the presenter of the BBC Three competition Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star from the third series (2021) onwards.

From 2015 until 2017, she co-presented Trending Live!, Cannonball on ITV in 2017, and the MTV show True Love or Ture Lies in 2018. Maya Indea Jama was born in Bristol to a Somali father and a Swedish mother, Sadie. Her mother gave birth to her at the age of 19 and named her after the US author and poet Maya Angelou. Jama moved to London to pursue a media career, initially as an actress, then as a TV presenter and fashion model in 2012. Acting had been her first ambition, but she realized that becoming a presenter might suit her better. Jama’s early role models such as June Sarpong and Davina McCall. She started her presenting debut as a teenager, presenting the weekly music video countdown on JumpOff TV, and then worked for Sky UK on TRACE Sports. Jama then hosted Maya’s FIFA World Cup Cities for Copa90, a travelogue covering the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil in 2014. She hosted the Copa90 nine-part World Cup Taxi series dedicated to the event. She then joined MTV as a presenter for The Wrap-Up in August 2014.

Jama presented her own show, Maya Jama on Fridays and Saturdays on BBC Radio 1 from 2018 to 2020. The BBC then confirmed in a statement that she had left Radio 1 after two years on May 15, 2020.

Maya hosted When Life Gives You Melons, a podcast available to streaming platforms in partnership with Freya Lingerie in 2018. It featured her interviewing all-female guests about work, life, and relationships.
