Marc Blucas (Marcus Paul Blucas) is an American actor best known for playing Riley Finn in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Matthew Donnelly in Necessary Roughness. He is also known for playing college basketball with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons before he began acting.

Marc Blucas Family
Marcus was born to Walter Joseph Blucas and Mary Catherine (née Gordon). His parents got married shortly before both graduated in education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). Marcus has a sister Kristen who is two years older than him. His father is of half Polish and half Slovak descent. Marc’s maternal grandfather was of English and Scottish ancestry while his maternal grandmother was the daughter of Serbian parents. His parents are divorced.
Marc’s family moved to Girard in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1974 where his father rose from teacher to school principal and finally to Superintendent of Schools for the District.

He married journalist Ryan Haddon the daughter of Canadian model and actress Dayle Haddon on July 25, 2009. He is the stepfather to Haddon’s two children from her first marriage to actor and producer Christian Slater.
Marc Blucas Wake Forest
Like his father, Marc was a skilled sportsman and he became the star player on the Girard High School basketball team. He leads the team to the Pennsylvania Boys AA State Championship, and in the process earned all-state honors and also a sports scholarship to Wake Forest University. Marc played in the Wake Forest Demon Deacons men’s basketball team. He graduated in 1994 after one season playing on the same court as Tim Duncan.
Marc moved to England where he played professional basketball for a year with the British Basketball League’s Manchester Giants following his failure to make it into the NBA. He then changed his mind about becoming a lawyer and later decided to venture into acting.

Marc’s first television role was in the television movie Inflammable, made in 1995. He since found roles in both television and film. Marc also starred as the Basketball Hero in Gary Ross’s Pleasantville (1998). He landed his first major role in 1999 as Agent Riley Finn in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Finally, he was certain that he had blown his audition and had left apologizing for having wasted creator Joss Whedon’s time. Joss asked him to audition again and he then received the part two weeks later. He then played Buffy’s love interest until 2000.

After Marc’s departure from the series, and went on to act in such films as Summer Catch (2001), We Were Soldiers (2002), alongside Mel Gibson and Chris Klein, and First Daughter (2004), with Katie Holmes.
Marc began to land leading roles in films such as Thr3e and The Killing Floor in 2007. He joined the cast of the ABC television drama pilot True Blue in February 2010. He was also part of the regular cast of the USA Network show Necessary Roughness for the first two seasons where he played Matthew Donnelly, the series premiering on June 29, 2011.
