Leicester Tigers
In 2009, Manu represented Leicester in the Middlesex Sevens at Twickenham. He played for Leicester Tigers over South Africa at Welford Road on November 6, 2009, with Leicester winning 22-17. Tuilagi started his first season, 2010-11, with the senior Tigers side. Tigers Director of Rugby Richard Cockerill stated that he expected Manu to be a first-team regular and to play for England before long. In the season, he began the majority of games for the Tigers and was called up for England Saxons duty.
In their Premiership semi-final against Northampton Saints, on May 14, 2011, he earned a yellow card for punching Chris Ashton. He exited Leicester Tigers following not agreeing to a reduced wage package, on July 10, 2020, amid the financial challenges caused to the club by the coronavirus pandemic.

Manu grew up in England and preferred to play rugby for it internationally. He was picked to begin the England Saxons game over Italy ‘A’ in January 2011, scoring a second-half try in a match that England won 45-17. Tuilagi was then named to England’s training team for the 2011 Rugby World Cup in June 2011. He has also been involved with the England Sevens team. Tuilagi played for an England seven which won the London Floodlit Sevens, playing under the name ‘Dip Deep England’ in May 2010. Manu then made his England debut in the World Cup warm-up game against Wales at Twickenham on August 6, 2011. Among the starting 15, he scored a try in the 44th minute underneath the posts after an inside pass from Jonny Wilkinson. Manu later played in the 3rd warm-up game, a win against Ireland, and scored again.

He came back to the England team in March 2016 for the 2016 Six Nations Championship following not playing for the national side because of injury and disciplinary reasons since June 2014. Mau was then ruled out of England’s tour of Australia because of an injury suffered in a Premiership semifinal defeat to Saracens.
Manu came back to the England squad in 2018 and came off the bench in a 37-18 victory over Australia to earn his 28th cap. Following a string of strong performances for club team Leicester Tigers, he was included in the England team for the 201 Six Nations that ultimately completed in 2nd place, runners up to Grand Slam winners Wales.
