Trying to cure his injury problems, he visited a Samoan witch doctor in November 2017, the doctor claimed to have found 3 spirits that had married him and were causing the injuries. The witch doctor massaged him for two hours a day for 4 days to block the spirits. He exited Leicester Tigers following not agreeing to a reduced wage package, on July 10, 2020, amid the financial challenges caused to the club by the coronavirus pandemic.

Sale Sharks

Manu agreed to join Sal Sharks on July 13, 2020, on a 1-year contract until the end of the 2020-21 season. Since then, he has extended his deal for a further 2 seasons.
