Maeve Kennedy Townsend McKean (born: Maeve Fahey Kennedy Townsend) was an American public health and human rights lawyer who served as executive director of the Georgetown University Global Health Initiative. She is known for being the daughter of former Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend.
Maeve went missing with her eldest son, Gideon, after a canoe trip in the Chesapeake Bay on April 2, 2020. The mother and son duo were presumed dead on April 3, 2020, an action that was declared by the Maryland law enforcement.
After a search that spanned several days and involved aviation and underwater imaging sonar technology, authorities recovered McKean’s body Monday 6th April 2020 at about 5:30 p.m. in 25 feet of water. This was about 2 1/2 miles south of her mother’s residence in Shady Side, Maryland, where the canoe was launched.

The authorities are set to resume their search on Tuesday 7th April 2020 for Maeve’s 8-year-old son, Gideon McKean.
