Larry Hogan (Lawrence Joseph Hogan Jr.) is an American politician currently, serving as the 62nd Governor of Maryland since 2015. He is a member of the Republican Party. 1992 Campaigns
in 1992, Larry faced Democratic incumbent Steny Hoyer in Maryland’s 5th congressional district as the Republican nominee. Moreover, Hoyer outspent Hogan 6-to-1 in campaign spending. Despite Hoyer’s financial edge, the election was the most competitive in his tenure. Larry managed to win four of the district’s five counties and received 44% of the vote to Hoyer’s 53%, with William Johnston (Independent) receiving 3%.
In 2003, he took a four-year leave to serve as Maryland’s Secretary of Appointments in the administration of Bob Ehrlich. He served in that position until 2007. As Secretary, he appointed over 7000 people to positions in the Maryland government.
