Kim Klacik (Kimberly Nicole Klacik nee Bray) is an American businesswoman and former political candidate. She was the Republican nominee for Maryland’s 7th Congressional District seat that was held by late Rep. Elijah Cummings losing the seat to Kweisi Mfume, a Democrat by more than 40 points in both the April 2020 special election and the November 2020 election. She is also Baltimore County Republican Committeewoman.
Kim won the Republican primary and faced the Democrat Kweisi Mfume in a special election on April 28, 2020, to fill the remainder of the term in the United States House of Representatives for Maryland’s 7th congressional district in the 116th U.S. Congress. Klacik received a popular vote of 38,102 (25.1%) losing to her opponent Kweisi who got a popular vote of 111,955 ( 73.8%).
Kwesi is the former President and CEO of the NAACP and former U.S. Representative for Maryland’s 7th congressional district (1987–1996). For some time she worked as a stripper. And in 2013 she founded Potential Me, a non-profit that assists women with workforce development. In April 2022, she became a full-time midday host at Baltimore’s WBAL NewsRadio, Monday-Friday 10 am to 2 pm. Since July 2021, she had worked part-time for WBAL making regular weekly appearances on afternoon host Torrey Snow’s show. In November 2022, she left the station.
