At the age of 12, he became a child actor starring as Harrison Ford‘s sidekick Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. At Castelar Elementary School, the casting director auditioned children, which also included his younger brother. In 1985, he co-starred in The Goonies as a member of the eponymous group of children, the inventor Richard “Data” Wang. In 1986, he played a pickpocket orphan in the Taiwanese movie It Takes a Thief.
