Who is Kawhi Leonard ?

Kawhi Leonard(Kawhi Anthony Leonard) is an American Professional Basketball player for the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Kawhi played two seasons of college basketball for the San Diego State Aztecs and was he was named a consensus second- team All American as a Sophore.

Later Kawhi decided to go for his final two seasons at San Diego State to enter the 2011 (NBA) draft. Kawhi was picked by the Indiana Pacers with the 15th overall pick and he was then traded to the San Antonio Spur at the night of the draft. In 2014 Kawhi won the NBA Championship with the San Antonio and he was named as the final most valued player.

Kawhi started 2009 as a freshman at San Diego University. He averaged 12.7 points and 9.9 rebounds per game for the Aztecs. Leonard then helped the team achieve a 25-9 record and led them to win the Mountain West Conference (MWC) tournament but the lost in the first round to Tennesse, 62-59, with Kawhi recording 12 points and 10 rebounds. He then led the MWC in the rebounding and was named MWC freshman of the Year, First Team All- MWC, and also the 2010 MWC Tournament MVP.
During his sophomore season, Kawhi averaged 15.7 points and 10.4 rebounds per contest. Aztecs finished with a 34- 3 record and won back-to-back conference tournament championship. Once again San Diego State led by the Kawhi made the NCAA tournament . The Aztecs advanced to the sweet 16 but they lost it to eventual national champions, Connecticut . San Antonio Spurs

In 2011 Kawhi was selected with the 15th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft by the Indian Pacers but he was traded on the same night to San Antonio Spur together with the rights to Erazem Lorbek and Davis Bertans in exchange of George Hill. On 10th, December, 2011, following the conclusion of the NBA lockout, Kawhi signed a multi-year deal with the Spurs.
In 2012 Rising Star Challenge Kawhi and his Teammate Tiago splitter were selected to play as members of Team Chunk. Although he suited up for the event, he didn’t play due to a calf strain. When the starter Richard Jefferson was traded to the Golden State Warrior for Stephen Jackson, Kawhi got promoted to the starting small forward position while Jackson served as his Backup.
When the season was ending, Kawhi was placed fourth in Rookie of the Year Voting and was he named to the 2012 NBA All-Rookie First Team. In 2012 summer Kawhi was among the several NBA up-and-comers chosen to play for the 2012 NBA USA men’s basketball Select Team. After the Miami Heat and San Antonio met once again on the NBA finals. On 10t, June, 2014 in game 3 of the series, he scored a career – high 29 points in a 111-92 win against the Miami Heat. They went a head and won the series 4-1. He averaged 17.8 points on 61% shooting and he was named NBA Final MVP. He was the third youngest winner to receive the Award at 22 years. On 10th, November, 2014 he scored a seasons-high of 26 points in the San Antonio 89-85 win against Clippers. Following three- game stint on the sideline between December 17 and 20, he had an injection in his injured right hand on December 22 and was ruled out definitely. March 23rd, 2016, he had another 32-point outing in a 112-88 win against Miami Heat, he helped the San Antonio extended their franchise-record home winning streak to 45 games from 2014-2015 season. On 2nd,April, he set a new career-high with 33 points in a 102-95 win against Toronto Raptors, helping the San Antonio set a franchise record with their 64th win. San Antonio topped their 63 win season in 2005-2006 and extended their NBA-record home winning streak to start the season to 39 games. After Kawhi attempting a free throw during Game 2 of the 2019 NBA Finals in June 018, reports claimed that Leonard had requested a trade from the San Antonio and that he did so after his Camp and the Spur stemming from a disagreement over his injury rehabilitation program. After one month Kawhi and his teammate Danny Green were traded to the Toronto Raptor in exchange for DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poltl and a protected 2019 first-round draft pick. In his debut for the Raptor in their season opener on 17th,October, he had 24 Points and 12 rebounds in a 116-104 win against the Cleveland Cavaliers. After two days later, he had 31 point and 10 rebounds in a 113-101 win against the Boston Celtics.

On 22nd,December,2020, during their season opener he recorded 26 points and two steals in a 116-109 win against the Los Angeles. In their fourth Quarters of the game against Denver he received an elbow from teammate which caused him facial injury which forced him out of the game early. He returned wearing plastic mask with a 128- 105 win against the Portland Trail Blazers on December 30, recording a game-high 28 points and seven assists.
