Who is Jonathan Pierce?
Jonathan Pierce Hildreth was an American interior designer and a former American CCM, gospel singer from Odessa, Texas. In his musical career, he uses his first and middle name. Having born in Odessa, Texas, Pierce moved to Nashville shortly after his graduation from high school to pursue his music career.
He began to sing with the Christ Church Choir. He was then introduced to The Imperials by Naomi Judd. The Christian music group offered him a spot and he stayed with them for three years (1990–93). This was after he was offered a position with Gaither Vocal Band. He also remained with them for three years (1994–97).
He has released several albums under Curb Records. In 2000, Pierce’s solo album, Sanctuary, made it to number 35 on the Billboard Top Contemporary Christian Albums chart. He had been nominated for five Gospel Music Association’s Dove Awards for Song of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Song of the Year for “I Believe In Christ”, Inspirational Song of the Year for “Farther Than Your Grace Can Reach”, and Male Vocalist of the Year in 1999.

Eventually, Pierce left music to pursue a career as an interior designer. In 2003, he became the lead designer for CMT’s Ultimate Country Home series. He is also the founder of Pierce and Company in Nashville which he operated until his death in May 2020. He also appeared on the VH1 reality show LeAnn & Eddie in 2014.

On May 10, Pierce’s friend Paul Cipek said in a Facebook post, “Just heard that Christian artist Jonathan Pierce has passed away. Complications from heart surgery. God brings comfort and mercy to his family.” Fellow singer Jody McBrayer who was also Pierce’s friend shared in a tweet, “So extremely sad to hear about the tragic passing of Jonathan Pierce. Praying for all of his family and loved ones today. He was a brilliantly talented artist and always a friend.”
