John Tesh is an American radio host and television presenter. In addition, he is also a pianist and composer of pop music. Currently, he is the host of the intelligence for Your Life radio show. Moreover, John hosts the show alongside his wife Connie Sellecca. Since 2014, he has hosted Intelligence for Your Life TV with his wife Connie Sellecca. He is a two-time survivor of prostate cancer.

Career

Television Career

He started his career at WSM-TV (now WSMV-TV) where he was serving as a reporter and news anchor in Nashville, Tennessee in the 1970s. While working at WSM-TV he frequently covered the same story as Oprah Winfrey, who was working at a competing Nashville station. After that, he shifted to WTVD in Raleigh, and later joined WFTC in Orlando and Eventually, he went to New York’s WCBS-TV. At the ti,e he joined WCBX he was 22 years old and their only youngest reporter. Moreover, he gained popularity after he co-hosted the television show titled Entertainment Tonight from 1986 to 1996.

Tesh also worked as a sportscaster for CBS and then NBC, anchoring events such as the Tour de France bicycle race from 1983 to 1986. In addition, Tesh was the first American to cover the race. Moreover, he also reported US Open and gymnastics at the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics.

Tesh played a Klingon fighter in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “The Icarus Factor.” In a 1987 episode of the daytime drama Santa Barbara, he played himself.

His musical career started when Yanni was putting together his first touring band to promote his album Out of Silence and Keys to Imagination. Since John and Yanni were good friends, he asked Yanni if could allow him to join his band as a keyboardist since he has never been on alive stage. His aim in joining the band was to gain experience.

Despite having a full-time job with Entertainment Tonight and rigorous hours of preparation for the band. John performed well, despite the fact that he only toured with Yanni for one tour, playing in roughly 12 concerts, including the “1988 Concert Series,” before being replaced by Bradley Joseph. Tesh later got his first recording contract with Private Music, thanks to Yanni’s support. In the 1990s, John Tesh was responsible for the theme music for Howie Mandel’s Bobby’s World and the NBA on NBC tune, “Roundball Rock.”

John gave his debut Live at Red Rocks concert in August 1994 at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. Tesh performed alongside Colorado Symphony Orchestra conductor John Bisharat and a 70-piece orchestra.

Tesh played the grand piano, Charlie Bisharat played the electric violin, and Everette Harp played alto saxophone throughout the concert. Olympic gold medalist gymnasts Nadia Comaneci (1976) and Bart Conner (1984) were also featured, executing choreographed gymnastic routines to Tesh’s music.
