John Klingberg Playing Career
He started off his career at an early age in Lerums BK; then he was signed as a youth to join the Frolunda HC program. On September 21, 2010, he made his Elirserien debut for Frolunda HC, against AIK. The Dallas Stars announced on May 16, 2011, that they had signed John to a three-year entry-level contract. In the 2011-12 season, he was then loaned to the Finnish SM-Liga to play with Jokerit before returning to Sweeden midway through the campaign to Skelleftea AIK.
John opted to play on loan with Frolunda HC in the 2013-14 season and produced a career-high 11 goals and 28 points in 50 games. He was assigned to the Stars’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the Texas Stars after the post-season elimination, where he played in three regular-season games. He made his NHL debut on November 11, 2014, in a 4-3 win over the Arizona Coyotes. On November 20, 2014, he scored his first NHL goal against Mike Smith of the Arizona Coyotes.
