John Elliott is an American weatherman for CBS 2 New York. He previously served as the meteorologist on “CBS 2 News This Morning” and “CBS 2 News At Noon” before moving to the weekends.
Before joining CBS 2, Elliott worked for two years at KCBS-TV in Los Angeles. He also appeared on weekday mornings on NBC as a weathercaster on “Early Today” having spent two years with NBC News and MSNBC. During his tenure with MSNBC, he handled a wide variety of assignments as an anchor and correspondent.
During the 2004 elections, he served as a 2004 MSNBC presidential campaign correspondent in the battleground state of Iowa. Elliott has also reported from numerous bases and posts throughout the nation as troops were deployed for the war in Iraq. He also spent time onboard the USS Abraham.
He first served as a weathercaster at WRBL-TV, the CBS affiliate in Columbus, Georgia. Elliott later joined KGET later transitioning to his role as a news anchor. He was a morning news anchor for KGET-TV, the NBC affiliate in Bakersfield, California. He had also served as an anchor for XETV-TV in San Diego on the Fox station’s morning newscasts.
Elliott is a recipient of the California Associated Press award for Best Weathercaster and has received numerous honors for his news features and general assignment reporting.
