John Martin Collins III is a famous American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Collins played college basketball for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. He was selected with the 19th pick in the 2017 NBA draft by the Hawks.

Atlanta Hawks (2017-present)

2017-18 season

Collins was picked with the 19th overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks on June 22, 2017. He then signed a rookie-scaled contract with the team. Collins received All-Summer League First Team honors because of his performance with the Hawks during the 2017 NBA Summer League. He got averages of 15.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game in 23.1 minutes of action in the five games he played there. He then saw action in all five preseason games for the team, coming off the bench with per-game averages of 7.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 19.2 minutes.

In his third ever NBA game, he recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds in a 116-104 defeat by the Brooklyn Nets on October 22, 2017. Collins followed it up the very night with another double-double performance over the Miami Heat, recording 14 points and 11 rebounds in a 104-93 loss.
