James Robert Cooter ”Jim Bob Cooter” is a famously known American professional football coach who is the passing game coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). Cooter previously worked as the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions from 2015 until 2018, and also served as running backs coach for the New York Jets. He played college football for the University of Tennessee and began coaching for his alma mater prior to becoming an NFL coach.

Coaching career
Early career
He worked as a graduate assistant for Tennessee in 2007 and 2008. Cooter was later hired as an offensive assistant by the Indianapolis Colts serving from 2009 to 2011. He worked as the offensive quality control coach for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2012. In 2013, Cooter joined the Denver Broncos as an offensive assistant in 2013 with the support of Peyton Manning.
Detroit Lions
The Lions hired him as their quarterbacks’ coach in 2014. Following the season, they reclined a request from the Chicago Bears, who wanted to interview Cooter for their offensive coordinator position. They then elevated him to offensive coordinator in the 2015 season, after former offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi was fired midseason. Cooter remained the offensive coordinator for the club until January 1, 2019, when it was revealed that they would not be renewing his contract.
New York Jets
The New York Jets hired Jim as the running backs coach under new head coach Adam Gase on February 8, 2019.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Cooter was then hired on February 17, 2022, by the Jacksonville Jaguars as their passing game coordinator under head coach Doug Pederson.
