 Who is Jeff Probst?

Jeff Probst is a famous American reality show host and executive producer. He is popular as the Emmy Award-winning host of the U.S. version of the reality TV show Survivor since 2000. Probst was also the host of The Jeff Probst Show, a syndicated daytime talk program produced by CBS Television Distribution from September 2012 to May 2013.

Jeff Probst Career

Other than Survivor, Jeff once hosted FX’s original half-hour show dedicated to answering viewer letters, Backchat. He hosted together with Sound FX, a music series featuring Orlando Jones (1996). Probst hosted the VH1 series Rock & Roll Jeopardy! from 1998 to 2001, and was also a correspondent for the syndicated show Acess Hollywood. He additionally wrote and directed the Lionsgate launched movie, Finder’s Fee. People magazine then named him one of the ”50 Most Beautiful People” in 2001. Probst frequently contributes to Jeopardy! by giving Survivor-related clues from the program’s venues, and has appeared twice on Celebrity Jeopardy! first in 2001 and again in 2003. He has also made several cameo appearances during the April 1, 2010 episode.

2003-2011

Probst was a frequent star on the sketch program MADtv, guest starring once a season since the program’s 9th season. He also hosts the ”Celebrity Superfan Roundtable” for Howard Stern. Jeff is the host of Survivor, a globally-syndicated American reality program that he has hosted since its inception in 2000. He said that he had worked hard to get a meeting with series creator Mark Burnett, as he believed the program was ”something special”. He gives the series’ signature catch-phrase to losing contestants, ”The tribe has spoken. It’s time for you to go”, which was included in TV Land’s ”The 100 Greatest TV Quotes and Catch Phrases” special in 2006.

Jeff then made a guest appearance in a 2003 episode of pace Ghost Coast to Coast on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. He was reported on TV Guide on October 20, 2008, that he was developing a new reality TV series for CBS titled Live For The Moment. It was to feature people with terminal illnesses being taken on ”the last adventure of their life” before they die. Just the pilot was aired, on January 28, 2010. Probst had appeared on a CBS reality television special I Get That a Lot, working a cash register, on April 1, 2009. He then appeared as himself on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother, in the episode ”The Stinson Missile Crisis” in October 2011.

2012-present

Jeff was announced as director in January 2012, of his second feature movie, the coming-of-age story Kiss Me. It was to star Sarah Bolger and John Corbett, with production planned to start in Los Angeles, California, the next month. From September 10, 2012, to May 2013, he hosted The Jeff Probst Show, a syndicated daytime talk program produced by CBS Television Distribution. CBS however, did not pick up the show for a second season, claiming low ratings. He has hosted the recurring Adult Swim special, ”The Greatest Event in Television History”, beginning in October 2012. The show includes remakes of 1980s television show title sequences.

He then teamed up with Christopher Tebbetts to launch the first of Scholastix’s adventure series Stranded, focused on middle school students, and grades 4-6, in February 2013. The series follows the story of Vanessa, Buzz, Jane, and Carter as they are left on a deserted island and forced to fend for themselves. It began out as a regular vacation but when a storm sets in, they are shipwrecked in the middle of the South Pacific without any parents. The kids must find a way to work together if they are ever to get off the island. Stranded is the first of the three book series.

Probst then appeared as himself on the sitcom Two and a Half Men in two seasons 11 episodes, ”Some Kind of Lesbian Zombie” and ”Baseball. Boobs. Boobs. Baseball”, in November 2013 and January 2014.
