Hafley began his coaching career in the 2001 season at Worcester Polytechnic as a running backs coach. Between the 2002 and 2005 seasons, Hafley served as a defensive assistant at Albany. Pittsburg hired Hafley in 2006 as a defensive assistant. He served there until the end of the 2010 season.
