Who is Jeff Foxworthy?

Foxworthy is an American comedian, actor, writer, producer, television personality, radio personality and author. He is famously known for his one-liners, you might be a redneck which have earned him 6 major-label albums. Also, he is a part of a comedy troupe known as the Blue Collar Comedy Tour which encompasses Larry the Cable Guy, Ron White and Bill Engvall.

Foxworthy received a three-time platinum certification for his first two albums from the Recording industry association of America. He has written several comic books based on his redneck jokes and an autobiography titled No Shirt, No Shoes… No Problem! Foxworthy has also been highly involved in television since the mid-1990s with his sitcom, The Jeff Foxworthy Show. One would say Foxworthy’s career commenced with the release of his comedy album, You Might Be a Redneck in 1993. The album topped the comedy charts and in 1994, it went gold and platinum by 1995. In 1996, with over 3 million copies sold, it became a 3-time platinum status. Jeff also received a 1996 Grammy nomination for Best Spoken Comedy Album for his 1995, Games Rednecks Play. In May 1996, he released Totally committed which was in conjunction with an HBO stand up special by the same name. Reaching gold, the album got a Grammy Award nomination in 1999. Totally Committed’s video featured interesting personalities including Atlanta Braves pitcher, Greg Maddux and his teammate John Smoltz. Foxworthy also received a nomination for the Best Spoken Comedy Album at the 43rd Annual Grammys in 2001.


The Jeff Foxworthy Show which starred Foxworthy was one of his milestones in television. The show which started airing on ABC in 1995 was based on his stand-up persona but was cancelled after one season. The show was picked up again by NBC but was later cancelled after one season. Jeff appeared on Space Ghost Coast to Coast, a mock talk show in 1998 where he tries to explain his renown “You Might Be a Redneck” joke to space Ghost but fails ridiculously. Jeff hosted the Fox primetime show, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? From September 21, 2009, he hosted a syndicated version of the series until its cancellation on March 11, 2011.
