Who Is Ian Hanomansing?

Ian Hanomansing(Ian Harvey Hanomansing ) is a Canadian Tv journalist working with CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Cooperation). Previously he had hosted CBC News Network Vancouver on CBC News Channel. He also reported for CBC TV’s nightly Newscast called The Nation.

He was named the new co-anchor of The Nation on August 1st, 2017. Currently, he anchors the show on Friday and Sundays. In addition, Ian is the current interim host of CBC Radio One’s weekly call-in show Cross Country Checkup, while the usual presenter Duncan McCue is on sabbatical.

Career

Ian made his debut in his journalism career at CKDH in Amherst, Nova Scotia during the summer after his graduation. After that, he worked at CKCW in Moncton, New Brunswick, and at CHNS in nearby Halifax, Nova Scotia. He joined CBC in 1986 where he was working for CBC Bureaus in the Maritimes and Toronto, Ontario. After he relocated to Vancouver where he served as a Network reporter and also presented the now-defunct programs Pacific Rim Report, Foreign Assignment and Time 7.Furthermore, Ian has also hosted a summer series on CBC Radio One’s Show known as feeling THe Heat.

In 2000, he became the anchor of the National segment of defunct new cast known as Canada Now. However the program was later canceled, after cancellation, he became the co-anchor of CBC News: Vancouver CBUT’s supper hour newscast. In 2007, he went back to being a reporter for The Nation until 2010. After that he started hosting CBC News Now with Ian Hanomansing in 2012, the show was broadcasted live from CBC Vancouver on weeknights until 2017. Ian was named as one of four news co-hosts of The Nation, CBC’s flagship news broadcast together with Adrienne Arsenault, Rosemary Barton, and Andrew Chang on 1st August 2017.

In addition, Ian has created and presented series of innovative live news specials such as “Downtown Drugs”, which was created in November 1998. The program was created in Vancouver Downtown Eastside during a public health emergency after a high number of fatal overdose incidents. “Crime on the streets” was broadcast, in part, from Stoney Mountain Institution in Manitoba in March 2005.
