He quickly went back to his Halloween character but still lost his mask again on December 24, 1999, in a match against Super Parka. The three won the National Trio title although Nicho had a misunderstanding with management and entirely La Familia left. The group carried on their work for independent promoters till CMLL called them back in 2005. They were called to wrestle against Negro Casas, Felino, and Heavy Metal on a show celebrating Negro’s 25 years of wrestling.
Halloween and Damian were recruited by Perro Aguayo for his Los Perros del Mal group. He suffered from a leg injury thus minimizing his role in wrestling. Halloween challenged Universo 2000 to a hair vs hair match on the December 2 show after he used the illegal martinete on Damián 666. Later he lost the match and his hair and underwent knee surgery being put out of action for several months being released from CMLL.

2009-2012

Manuel joined Aguayo’s Perro del Mal Producciones in 2009, and there he reunited with Damián 666. He became a major part of a storyline, in which Los Perros del Mal invaded AAA. Halloween, Damián 666 and X-Fly became the first-ever AAA World Trios Champions after they defeated Los Psycho Circus in a tournament final at Triplemania XIX on June 18, 2011. In a steel cage match at Verano de Escándalo, Los Perros del Mal fought Los Psycho Circus on July 31, where the last person left in the cage would lose either his hair or mask. Psycho Clown escaped the cage at the end of the match, leaving X-Fly inside and forcing him to have his hair shaved off.
Los Pyscho Circus and Los Perros del Mal ended their year long rivarly at Héroes Inmortales, on October 9. Halloween, Nicho el Millonario and Damián 666 were beaten in a Masks vs. Hairs steel cage match and they were all shaved bald. Los Perros del Mal lost the AAA World Trios Championship to Los Psycho Circus on March 11, 2012, after a five-month break from the rivalry. Halloween, Damián 666, and X-Fly announced that they quit Los Perros del Mal, the next day.

International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) was officially mentioned as La Familia de Tijuana’s new home promotion on March 29. Halloween was the only member of La Familia de Tijuana who kept appearing on AAA events after some time. Ortiz reunited with Los Perros del Mal on April 1, after initially teasing dissension with El Hijo del Perro Aguayo. He officially severed his ties with the rest of La Familia de Tijuana and went back to Los Perros del Mai on April 19.
Later on August 5 at Triplemania XX, he reunited with former partner Extreme Tiger for one night to take part in a Parejas Suicidas steel cage match, along with three other former tag teams. Halloween and Tiger both managed to escape the cage and avoided facing each other in a Hair vs. Mask match. He later started a romance storyline with Mari Apache in late 2012 and the two won the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship on October 7. In an eight-man tag team Domo de la Muerte, later in the same event that same evening, he lost his hair to Dark Cuervo.
