Who is Greg Gutfeld?

Greg Gutfeld (Gregory John Gutfeld) is an American television host, producer, libertarian, political commentator, author, and comedian. He is the host of the late-night comedy talk show Gutfeld! and hosted a Saturday night edition of Gutfeld! called The Greg Gutfeld Show from May 2015 until March 2021, when it was announced the show would transition to weeknights. Most importantly, he is also one of the five co-hosts and panelists of the political talk show The Five, both on Fox News Channel. Gutfeld also hosted Red Eye, a late-night talk show that also premiered on the Fox News Channel from 2007 to 2015.

Greg Gutfeld Career

Gutfeld started his career as an intern at the American Spectator, as an assistant to conservative writer R. Emmett Tyrrell. After that, he worked as an editor at Prevention magazine and as an editor for several Rodale Press magazines. In 1995, he became a staff writer for Men’s Health. Then he was promoted to editor-in-chief of Men’s Health in 1999, However, he was replaced by David Zinczenko after one year. Gutfeld became the editor-in-chief of Stuff, which was owned by Dennis Publishing at the time. The circulation of money increased from 750,000 to 1.2 million during his tenure. Gutfeld hired several dwarfs to attend a Magazine Publishers of America conference on the topic of “buzz” in 2003, with orders to be as loud and annoying as possible.

The incident gained attention, but after that, he was fired as a result of it. Greg was one of the first posting contributors to The Huffington Post since it was launched in 2005 until 2008. Since February 5, 2007, Greg has been the host of the late-night talk show Red Eye on Fox News Channel. The one-hour show initially aired at 2 a.m. ET Monday through Saturday morning and at 11 p.m. Saturday evening. However, as of October 2007, the show aired at 3 am Monday through Saturday morning, keeping 11 pm on Saturday night. From 2007 to 2013, Bill Schulz was Greg’s partner and Andy Levy was the show’s ombudsperson.

Schulz had been Gutfeld’s colleague at Stuff magazine and Levy was a fellow blogger at the Huffington Post. In addition, on July 11, 2011, he became co-host and speaker on Fox News’ political talk show The Five, which airs Monday through Friday at 5 p.m. ET. He then left Red Eye in February 2015 and Tom Shillue took over as the show’s new host. On May 31, 2015, Greg started hosting The Greg Gutfeld Show, a new weekly late-night talk show on Fox News that airs on Saturdays at 10:00 p.m. ET. In February 2021, it was confirmed that the show would move to weeknights at 11:00 p.m. ET starting in the second quarter. 

Gutfeld!, a new weeknight show set to air on April 5, 2021, was announced on March 10, 2021. In August 2021, he overtook The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in the nightly ratings. Thus becoming the highest-rated late-night talk show in the United States. It averaged 2.12 million nightly viewers more than The Late Show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Jimmy Kimmel Live! By the end of 2021, the combined viewership for Gutfeld! and The Five averaged over five million viewers. Moreover, he has appeared as a guest on Coffee with Scott Adams and The Adam Carolla Show. In late 2021, he was named the 12th-most influential person in American media by the Mediaite website.
