Glenn Beck (Glenn Lee Beck) is a popular American radio host, television producer, conservative political commentator, and conspiracy theorist. He is the founder, CEO, and owner of Mercury Radio Arts. Beck is the host of a popular talk-radio show, the Glenn Beck Radio Program on Premiere Radio Networks.

Radio Work

Beck began his career at the age of 18 years where he worked with KAYK radio station in Provo, Utah. He relocated to Washington, D.C. after six months of service in Utah and found a job at WPGC in February 1983.

Beck relocated to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1983 and was hired at KZFM. WRKA hired Beck in mid-1985 as their lead DJ for the morning-drive radio broadcast in Louisville, Kentucky. He hosted a show called Captain Beck and the A-Team. He left WRKA in 1987, following a dispute with the management.

After his resignation from WRKA, Phoenix Top-40 station KOY-FM then known as Y-95 hired Beck. He co-hosted the “morning zoo” program with Tim Hattrick. Beck became rivals with Bruce Kelly, a host at KZZP drawing criticism from his management.

Beck resigned from Y-95 in 1989 and secured a job in Houston at KRBE, known as Power 104. They fired him in 1990 as a result of poor ratings.

B104 in Baltimore, Maryland, hired him and he co-hosted a morning show with Pat Gray, a morning DJ. During his tenure at B104, he was arrested and jailed for overspeeding his car, DeLorean. Gray and Beck moved to WKCI-FM (KC101), a Top-40 radio station in New Haven, Connecticut in 1992 after they were fired from B104.

Gray left the post and left Beck to co-host with Vinnie Penn. In 1998, the management informed Beck that his contract would not be renewed at the end of 1999. Beck was hired by WFLA (AM) in Tampa, in 2000 and began hosting his show, The Glenn Beck Program. The program took the afternoon time slot.

Premiere Radio Networks launched the show in January 2002 on 47 stations. The show was moved to Philadelphia, broadcasting from WPHT. By May 2008, Beck’s show had extended to over 280 terrestrial stations and XM Satellite.

CNN’s Headline News announced in January 2006 that Beck would host Headline Prime, Glenn Beck Show. Beck was the second leading in the second-largest audience behind Nancy Grace. He received the Marconi Radio Award for Network Syndicated Personality of the Year in 2008.

Beck left CNN Headlines News in October 2008 and joined the Fox News Channel. He began hosting Glenn Beck in January 2009 on Fox News Channel. He additionally hosted a weekend version.
