Who is Georgia Fualaau?
Georgia Fualaau is the youngest daughter of former Seattle elementary school teacher Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau. Along with her sister Audrey Lokelani Fualaau, she is a result of her parents’ illegal relationship which attracted national attention.
Her mother famously served her time in prison after pleading guilty in 1997 to two counts of felony second-degree rape of a child (Fualaau then 12-year old sixth-grade student). The state sought a six-and-a-half-year prison sentence but she reached a plea agreement calling for six months in jail, with three months suspended, and no contact with Fualaau for life among other terms.
After serving her three months in jail, Letourneau was released and despite their no-contact order, the two were caught by police in a car. After the incident, the judge revoked the plea agreement and her prison sentence was reinstated. She had to serve the maximum allowed by law of seven-and-a-half years.
Upon her release, Fualaau requested the court for the cancellation of their no-contact order. To their favor, the order was revoked and the two eventually got married.
