George Theron Bynum (George Theron Bynum IV) is an American politician and lobbyist from the state of Oklahoma. George is a member of the Republican Party and the 40th mayor of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Before becoming a mayor, he served as a city councilor for Tulsa’s ninth district. In addition, George is also a political moderate.
Career
In 2000, he started working as a staffer for United Senators Don Nickles and Tom Coburn, he served in that position until 2006. After that, he came back to Tulsa to work for a real estate auction company, Williams & Williams.
However, in 2009, he was let off, together with one-third of the Williams & Williams staff. After that, together with his partner, Stuart McCalman, founded Capitol Ventures Government Relations, a lobbying firm that works on behalf of governments and companies.
In 2008, he decided to run for the mayoral seat, where he won the two-year term. As a mayor, he was representing District 9 on the Tulsa City Council.
