Fred Hoiberg is an American college basketball coach and a former player for the Indiana Pacers. As of January 2020, Hoiberg serves as the head coach for the University of Nebraska men’s basketball program. He previously served as the head coach for the Chicago Bulls of the NBA. He was fired on December 5, 2018.
In his playing carer, Hoiberg became the first player in NBA history to lead the league in three-point percentage in 2005 and not be invited to the three-point shooting competition in that season’s All-Star event.

Iowa State University announced on 27, April 2010 that Hoiberg would take over as head basketball coach succeeding Greg McDermott. Greg left ISU to take the head coaching position at Creighton. The buyout was only $500, 000 if he left to become an NBA head coach or general manager.
He was hired by the Chicago Bulls on June 2, 2015, as the head coach under a 5-year contract worth $25 million. During his rookie season as head coach, Bulls missed the playoffs for the first time in eight years. They failed to meet preseason expectations. They later lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Boston Celtics after taking a 2-0 lead. Again, they were perceived as underachieving. Hoiberg was ranked the worst head coach in the league by ESPN in March 2017. He was dismissed by the Chicago Bulls on December 3, 2018, after a 5-19 start to the 2018-19 season.
