Who is Frank Gardner?
Frank Gardner is better known by her birth name as Francis Rolleston Gardner OBE TD VR FRGS is a famous British journalist and author. Currently, he is the BBC’s Security Correspondent. He was commissioned into the British Army as a second lieutenant joining the Royal Green Jackets in September 1984. After working in various jobs in the Middle East, he joined in 1995, as a producer and reporter.
In 1997, he became the BBC’s first full-time Gulf correspondent before being appointed in 1999 as BBC Middle East correspondent. Frank decided to specialize in covering stories related to War on Terror after the 11 September attacks.
While reporting from Al-Suwaidi on June 6, 2004, a district of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, he was shot six times and was seriously injured in an attack by al-Qaida gunmen. one of his spinal nerves was hit and he was left paralyzed in the legs. He returned to reporting for the BBC in mid-2005 using a wheelchair or a frame. This was after 14 surgical operations, seven months in hospital, and several months of rehabilitation.

A Military Service Career
On May 23, 1984, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant (on probation). He then transferred from the general list to the 4th Volunteer Battalion on September 30, 1984. On October 1, 1990, he was promoted to captain with seniority from February 1, 1989. Frank was appointed as captain in the Regular Army Reserve on November 11, 1993. On April 24, 1997, he returned to the Territorial Army serving in the Educational and Training Services Branch of the Adjutant General’s corps.
