Who is Fearne Cotton?

Fearne Wood nee Cotton is a prominent English television and radio presenter. She has presented television programs such as Top of the Pops and the Red Nose Day telethons. She became the first regular female presenter of the Radio 1 Chart Show in 2007, which she co-hosted with Reggie Yate for two years.


From 2009 to 2015, she went n to present her own Radio 1 show airing every day weekday morning. In 2016, she joined BBC Radio 2. She presented in 2007 The Xtra Factor an ITV2 spin-off from the main show. For one year she hosted the show before being replaced by Holly Willoughby.

A Career in Television

At the age of 15 in 1996, Cotton began her presenting career with the early-morning GMTV children’s program The Disney Club. Later she continued with the show and with its replacement Diggit. In 2000, she left to concentrate on her other projects with CITV including Draw Your Own Toons and Mouse. In 2001, Cotton joined CBBC to present the children’s science program Eureka TV. From 2001 to 2003, she presented Finger Tips an arts and crafts program for children which she co-presented with Stephen Mulhem. Fearne returned to children’s television in 2015 by voicing one of the Voice Trumpets in the reboot of the classic British children’s television series Teletubbies.

A Career at ITV

With Patrick Kielty, she presented the second series of ITV’s Love Island in 2006. Cotton in 2007 took over from Ben Shephard as host of The X Factor spin-off program The Xtra Factor on ITV2. She was replaced in the following series by Holly Willoughby after resigning to work in America. Starting September 5, 2007, she co-hosted with Holly Willoughby the ITV2 dating program Holly & Fearne Go Dating. In both 2008 and 2009, Cotton and Yates presented the one-off Christmas and New Year specials as well as the Comic Relief special 2009. A Career at BBC Radio 1

Cotton joined BBC Radio 1 in September 2005 to present the Friday early morning slot with Reggie Yates. She and Yates presented BBC’s Radio 1, Chart Show, since October 14, 2007, taking over from JK & Joel who had left the station. Fearne became the first-ever permanent female presenter of a BBC radio chart show. It was announced on July 16, 2009, that Cotton would become the new presenter of BBC Radio 1’s weekday mid-morning show. Taking over from Jo Whiley (who moved to weekends). On September 21, 2009, her new program began. Cotton announced on February 27, 2015, that she was pregnant with her second child. Therefore she would be leaving BBC Radio 1. On May 25, 2015, Clara Amfo replaced Cotton. On May 22, 2015, was Cotton’s broadcast final show.
