She joined the cast of EastEnders as Honey in November 2005 and portrayed the role until September 2008, when the character was among several written out by executive producer Diederick Santer that year. After a short return in 2014, it was revealed on September 6, 2015, that she would return to the role permanently in November of that year. Barton then sang live for Children in Need in the BBC studios in London on November 14, 2008.

From December 2008 to January 2009, she starred in the title role of Snow White in the Marlowe Theatre’s Canterbury pantomime together with Stephen Mulhern. She later toured the UK in the stage production of Chicago together with Twinnie Lee Moore and Jimmy Osmond playing Roxie Hart.
