Doug Ducey ( Douglas Anthony Ducey Jr) is a  known American, Businessman, and politician. Currently, he is serving as the 23rd governor of Arizona since 2015. Moreover, prior to joining politics, he was the CEO of Cold Stone Creamery, a chain of ice cream parlors based in Scottsdale, Arizona.

As a member of the Republican party, he served as Arizona State Treasurer from 2011 until 2015. In addition, Doug was elected as a governor on November 4, 2014, and began office on January 5, 2015. In 2018, he was re-elected.

He started his career at Procter & Gamble, where he was working in sales and marketing. In addition, he became the CEO of Cold Stone Creamery from 1995 to 2007.

Cold Stone was founded in 1988 and it had over 1,400 sites in the United States and 10 other countries. However, Doug together with his business partner decided to sell it in 2007. After the company was sold to Kahala, Ducey stepped down from the organization due to allegations of franchise mishandling.

In July 2013, he filled the required paperwork to prepare for the possibility of running for governor. On February 19, 2014, he announced his bid to run for the office of governor at a rally in downtown Phoenix.

After announcing his candidacy, several conservative leaders, including Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee, as well as Governor Scott Walker and former Senator Jon Kyl, endorsed him as the right candidate. On March 30, 2015, for the first time, he rejected HB2150, an amendment to animal cruelty legislation that would have exempted livestock animals from protection under that law. Furthermore, he also declined HB2410, which would have prevented police departments from setting traffic ticket quotas.

Ducey signed SB1367 on March 31, 2017. The SB1367 required doctors to treat babies delivered alive during abortions or induced early births. Initially, late-term abortions were conducted only in extreme cases where the baby’s and mother’s lives were in danger. However, the opponents of the measure said that the new limits would compel doctors to offer unnecessary treatment to newborns who were not expected to survive.

On April 6th, 2017, he extended eligibility to every Arizona Student. This was after he signed a major expansion bill. On September 4, 2018, it was confirmed that Doug had nominated former U.S. Senator Jon Kyl to fill the vacancy left after John McCain’s death. After that, Kyl resigned from the Senate on December 31, 2018, and Doug replaced him with former Congresswoman Martha McSally.
