Who is Don Francisco?

Don Francisco ( Mario Luis Kreutzberger Blumenfeld) is a Chilean television host and a popular personality on the Univision network. He signed into Telemundo in 2016. He is well known for hosting the former variety show Sabado Gigante and Don Francisco Presenta.

Don began a television program in 1962 and called it Sabados Gigantes on Channel 13. In it, he adapted many of the formulas he had seen on American television to the Chilean audience. The show became an instant hit that ran for more than 53 years. In 1986, SIN began producing the show in Miami, Florida, under the same Procedure used in Chile, under the slightly different name of Sabado Gigante from the KMEX-DT 34 channel in Los Angeles.

The six-year that followed, Don created a three-hour-long variety show, with contests, comedies, interviews, and a travel camera section. The Traveling Camera or Camara Vegera (originally La Pelicula Extranzera, The Foreign Movie) has brought “Don Francisco” to more than 185 countries around the world, many of them more than once. Francisco has interviewed many celebrities on his show, including Roberto Duran, Christina Sarlegui, Susan Taunton, Charitin, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Bara Obama, Bill Gates, and many more. Through a talented partnership with Memo Floors of Jugaremos en Familia, Sabado Gigante has helped launch the careers of many well-known entertainers such as Lily Estefan, Sissy Fleetas, and many more. Kretzberger himself appeared in 33 films, about the 2010 Kopipau Mining accident.

After the Chilean massacre in 1973, soldiers searched for Don and took him to a fake house in Salvador Alenda, where police were still on the floor. The soldiers told him to report the incident. However, Don refused the offer and encouraged the captain who had approached him to take the role of a reporter himself.
