Glenn Anton “Doc” Rivers is a notable American professional basketball coach and former player who is a head coach for the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA (National Basketball Association).
Rivers after playing for Marquette University for three seasons was drafted in 1983 by the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA. There, he played as a point guard from 1983 to 1991 for the Hawks. Later, he played for the Los Angels Clippers, the New York Knicks, and the San Antonio Spurs. In 1988, he was an NBA All-Star.

For Proviso East High School, he was a McDonald’s All-American in the Chicago metropolitan area and then he attended Marquette University. A Career with the Orlando Magic (1999-2003)
Rivers began his coaching career in 1999 with the Orlando Magic, where he coached for more than four NBA seasons. In 2000 in his first year with the Magic, he won the Coach of the Year award. He was fired in 2003 after a 1-10 start in his last season.
A Career with the Bolton Celtics (2004-2013)
Rivers after spending a year working as a commentator for the NBA on ABC, in 2004, was hired by the Boston Celtics as their head coach. On January 21, 2008, as a result of the Celtics’ 109-93 victory over the New York Knicks, he as the coach of the team with the best winning percentage in the Eastern Conference, earned the honor to coach the East for the 2008 NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans.
He won his first NBA Championship as a head coach on June 17, 2008, after defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in six games.
