Deron Andrew Winn is a well-known American professional mixed martial artist and freestyle wrestler. He is presently signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), fighting in its middleweight division as a mixed martial artist. Winn is a professional from 2017 to the present and has also competed in Bellator MMA.
Deron Winn Career
Following failing to make it to the 2016 Summer Olympics wrestling team, Deron moved to California in 2016 and went on to train in mixed martial arts. He started his professional career in 2017 and fought under various promotions, most famously Bellator MMA. Winn earned an undefeated record of 5-0 with all except one of his victories ending by knockout in the first round. It was then revealed that he has signed with the UFC on December 20, 2018.

On June 22, 2019, Winn was scheduled to make his promotional debut against Markus Perez at UFC Fight Night. However, it was reported on May 9, that Perez had pulled out of the bout citing injury, and was replaced by Bruno Silva. It was then reported on June 16, that Silva was forced out of the contest because of a potential anti-doping violation by USADA and his place taken by returning veteran Eric Spicely. Spicely then won the bout by unanimous decision. The victory earned both competitors the Fight of the Night award.
Winn then fought Darren Stewart at UFC on ESPN 6 on October 18, 2019. At the weigh-in, Winn weighed in at 188.5 pounds, 2.5 pounds more than the middleweight non-title bout limit of186. The fight was held at catchweight and he was fined 20% of his purse which went to his opponent, and he lost the bout by split decision. On March 7, 2020, he faced Gerald Meerschaert at UFC 248. However, Winn lost the bout through submission in the third round. He was then suspended for nine months and fined $1,800 of his purse by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on September 3, 2020, following testing positive for amphetamines. The suspension was later retroactive to March 7, 2020, and he became eligible to compete again on December 7, 2020.
On December 19, 2020, Winn was scheduled to fight Antonio Braga Neto at UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs. Neal. However, Braga Neto was eliminated from the contest because of undisclosed reasons, and his place was taken by Antonio Arroyo. Daren then won the bout by unanimous decision. He was later scheduled to fight Phil Hawes at UFC on ESPN 26 on July 17, 2021. But he was forced to pull out from the event citing a separated rib and torn cartilage, and the fight was rescheduled for October 9, 2021, at UFC Fight Night 194.
