Deborah Roderick Stark is an American recognized expert in policy, programs, and research related to early childhood and family issues. She is also a real estate investor and asset manager in California and Maryland.
Deborah is also known for being the second wife of businessman and former congressman, Pete Stark. She is also co-founder and an officer of the board of the National Association for Family, School and Community Engagement; and past president of the Institute for Community Peace. Roderick serves as vice-chair of the board of Montford Hall in North Carolina. This is a non-profit residential recovery program for adolescent boys.
She is the founder of Deborah Roderick Stark and Associates having more than 3 decades of experience working with foundations, public agencies, and the nonprofit sector. Previously, she served as a policy analyst at the joint presidential-congressional National Commission on Children.

Through her consulting practice, she advises the chair of the Heising-Simons Foundation in California, among other clients. She also provides research and guidance on investments to advance progressive issues, especially those that enhance the opportunity for children.

During the Clinton Administration, she was appointed as a special assistant to the Commissioner of the Administration on Children, Youth and Families of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In her position, Deborah designed and implemented the family preservation and support services initiative passed by Congress in 1993, and the Early Head Start program passed as part of the 1994 Head Start reauthorization.
