David Wayne Culley is a popular American professional football coach, currently the head coach of the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). He is a former long-time assistant coach to Andy Reid. Culley has had 45 years of experience in coaching at both college and professional levels. He previously served as the assistant head coach, wide receivers coach, and passing game coordinator for the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens from 2019 to 2020.

David has NFL assistant coaching experience of 27 years, including coaching for four years as the Kansas City Chiefs assistant head coach and wide receivers coach. Previously he served on Andy Reid’s staff with the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs from 1999 to 2016. In 2005, he appeared in one Super Bowl during his time with the Eagles.

Culley started his coaching profession as a running backs coach at Austin Peay State University in 1978. He joined Vanderbilt University, his alma mater, as their wide receivers coach in 1979. Later in 1982, he joined Middle Tennessee State University as the quarterbacks and running backs coach.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga hired David as their wide receivers coach in 1983. In 1985, he served as the quarterbacks’ coach. Later he was hired as the offensive coordinator, running backs, and wide receivers coach by the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) in 1989.
