Corey McPherrin (full name: Corey B. McPherrin) is an American journalist who serves as a morning news anchor for WFLD-TV in Chicago. FOX 32 (WFLD) is a Fox owned-and-operated television station licensed to Chicago, Illinois, United States.
His broadcasting career started in 1977 when he worked at a television station in Davenport, Iowa. He later worked for TV stations in Quincy, Illinois, New Orleans, Denver, and Atlanta.
He joined WABC-TV in New York City in 1984. In 1986, he became WABC’s top sports anchor. He also delivered in-game updates during ABC’s Monday Night Baseball and Thursday Night Baseball broadcasts in the 1980s. In his time in New York, he contributed o ABC Sports as a college football play-by-play announcer and reporter for the sports anthology show, “Wide World of Sports.”
He later joined WBBM-TV in Chicago in 1991 as the station’s main sports anchor. He served as WBBM’s lead sports anchor until 1995 after the arrival of Tim Weigel. However, McPherrin chose to leave and join WFLD-TV.
