Who is Charlotte Hawkins?

Charlotte Hawkins ( Charlotte Mary Hawkins ) is an English radio and television presenter, newsreader, and journalist. Charlotte joined ITV’s Meridian Tonight in 2003, she hosted ITV main news program and later left to be co-presenter in SKY’s breakfast program Sunrise with Eamonn Holmes in 2006.

Hawkins then left the sky to co-present the ITV Breakfast program Good Morning Britain. After that, she presented a Sunday afternoon program on Classic FM. She was also a contestant in the fifteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing but she was eliminated in the fourth week.

Charlotte as a Journalism

Charlotte Hawkins started her career in 1999 at ITN as a newsreader and reporter for LBC Radio. Hawkins was one of the first journalists at the fatal Paddington rail crash and provided live reports from the scene. She later moved to ITV Meridian in the South East of England in January 2002. In ITV she presented the hour-long current affairs series The Big Story.

From October 2003, she worked for ITV Meridian as co-anchor of their main news program Meridian Night. Hawkins also presented on the ITV News Channel. While at Meridian she presented several pan-regional documentaries which included the half-hour special Britain on the Move. She also co-hosted The London Boat Show for ITV

In January 2006, she left ITV Meridian to join Sky News. While in Sky she presented Sunrise each Monday to Thursday alongside Eamonn Holmes. However, in 2004 Hawkins left Sky News Channel. After that Hawkins presented several stints on Five News, where she standing-in for Matt Barbet was providing maternity leave cover for the main presenter Natasha Kaplinsky, for a short period in 2010. In the same year, she was an  occasional guest news reviewer on the ITV program This Morning

Charlotte was announced as a presenter on the ITV Breakfast program Good Morning Britain on March,3rd, 2014. After that, she made her final appearance on Sky News Sunrise on March,6th, 2014. On 28th, April 2014 she made her debut on Good Morning Britain, where she co-hosted the show with Ben Shephard, Susanna Reid, and Sean Fletcher from 6:00  to 8:30 am every day except Thursdays. She presented her final show on January 22nd, 2015, before taking maternity leave.

Charlotte returned after 5 months that was on 15th, June 2015. Since 2017 she works as a newsreader on Good Morning Britain, which is aired four mornings a week, and cover as the main presenter during holidays and absence. In 2017, Hawkins took part in the fifteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One. Hawkins was paired with professional dancer Brendan Cole. However, they were eliminated in the fourth week of the competition.

From 7th, January 2018, she was presenting her own Classic FM music show on Sunday afternoons from 3-5 pm. On 5th, January 2020, John Humphrys took over the show and Hawkins moved to the Smooth Classics at Seven slots. Since January, 6th,2020, Charlotte present the first 30 minutes of Good Morning Britain on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday since the program’s air time was extended.

Through her Twitter account on November, 20th, 2020, she announced that she was going to release a classical music Album that was titled ‘Mindful moments’ in the time for Christmas. The album was a selection of her best pieces of classical music and is dedicated to her late father, Frank.
