Calvin won eight fights in a row and was undefeated in more than seven years competing on the regional circuit mainly in his native New England before his UFC career.
Ultimate Fighting Championship
He made his UFC debut taking the place of Doo Ho Choi against Andre Fili at UFC 214 on July 29, 2017. He won the bout by unanimous decision. On January 20, 2018, he fought unbeaten prospect Shane Burgos at UFC 220. Kattar won the bout by technical knockout in round three, and the bout was awarded the Fight of the Night bonus. He then faced Renato Moicano at UFC 223, on April 7, 2018, losing the bout by unanimous decision. On October 27, 2018, he faced promotional newcomer Chris Fishgold at UFC Fight Night 138. Kattar won the bout by technical knockout in the first round, fulfilling his first four-fight deal with the UFC.
On June 8, 2019, he fought Ricardo Lamas and won the bout by knockout in the first round. He was then scheduled to fight Zabit Magomedsharipov at UFC on ESPN 6, on October 18, 2019. Zabit was however removed from the card because of an injury on September 13, and the pairing was rescheduled for the next month at UFC on ESPN+ 21. Kattar lost the bout by unanimous decision and received the Fight of the Night award.
He was later scheduled to fight Jeremy Stephens at UFC 249, on April 28, 2020. However, Dana White, the president of UFC revealed on April 9 that the event was postponed and the fight finally took place on May 9, 2020. At the weigh-ins, Jeremy missed weight, weighing in at 150.5 pounds, 4.5 pounds more than the non-title featherweight limit on May 8. Due to this, the fight went on as a catchweight fight, and Stephens was fined 20% of his purse which went to Kattar. Kattar then won the bout by technical knockout in round two. The first fight of his new six-fight deal came against Dan Ige at UFC on ESPN: Kattar vs. Ige on July 16, 2020. Kattar then won the bout by unanimous decision.
Calvin then fought former UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway, while headlining UFC on ABC 1 on January 16, 2021. Kattar suffered numerous physical trauma because of Holloway’s strikes, which set many UFC records in a one-sided fight, and he lost by unanimous decision. Although it was a one-sided bout both competitors received the Fight of the Night award as Kattar was able to land powerful strikes of his own, in spite of all the damage he got.
Kattar then fought Giga Chikadze at UFC on ESPN 32, on January 15, 2022. He won the bout by unanimous decision following knocking down and almost finishing Chikadze in the last seconds of the fight. The bout awarded Kattar the Fight of the Night award. On June 18, 2022, he faced Josh Emmett in the main event at UFC on ESPN 37.
