Brad Rutter (full name: Bradford Gates Rutter) is an American television host, actor, and producer best known for being a game show contestant. Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Rutter now lives in Los Angeles.
Heis the highest-earning Jeopardy! contestant (US$5,053,436) and the 2nd highest-earning American game show contestant of all time, behind Ken Jennings. Until 2020 in Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time, he had never lost a Jeopardy! match against a human opponent.
He has also made other game show appearances. On 1st and 8th December 2006, he made appearances on the U.S. game show 1 vs. 100 (as a member of “the Mob”). He made his Jeopardy! debut on October 30, 2020. Some then rules stated that a contestant who won five consecutive days retired undefeated and was guaranteed a spot in the Tournament of Champions. Rutter went ahead retiring as an undefeated 5-day champion, with $55,102 in winnings. The rules of the game were changed in 2003. In 2004, Ken Jennings ran 74 consecutive days making him the largest overall Jeopardy! money winner.
He was invited to the 2001 Tournament of Champions competing and winning against other 5-day champions winning the $100,000 main prize. In 2002, he was invited back for the 2002 Million Dollar Masters Tournament. He won the main prize of $1,000,000 and became the largest overall money winner in Jeopardy! history.
