Bill Melugin Biography
Bill Melugin is an American Murrow award winning anchor and investigative reporter for FOX 11 Los Angeles.
Melugin attended the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University where he received a BA in broadcast journalism and a minor in Spanish Linguistics. He initially worked as an anchor and investigative reporter at WJZY-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina for two and a half years. Melugin then began his career reporter and fill in anchor at KFOX-TV in El Paso Texas for two years.

He has done live coverage of the Charlotte riots which earned him an Edward R. Murrow award, as well as the Society of Professional Journalists’ national Sigma Delta Chi award, both for the categories of large market breaking news.
In August 2017, Belugin was accused by angry protesters of being a white supremacist because he had a dress shirt on. This was during the anti-fascist protests that had kicked off across the nationfollowing the white nationalist march in Charlottesville, Va., which saw the death of one woman and two police officers.
Belugin was reporting on scene in downtown Los Angeles, Fox 11 LA and as he walked through the crowd, a woman said he was dressed like a white supremacist because of how he looked. He wore a white dress shirt and trousers.
Belugin clarified that he worked for the local news station but protesters demanded his press credentials to prove that he worked for Fox. He was unable to provide proper identification, and multiple marchers surrounded him calling him “unprofessional.” They also accused him of working for Breitbart and began chanting “racists go home”. Belugin left the scene after a police officer to get between him and the protesters.

He also received the SPJ’s 1st place national Mark of Excellence award for investigative reporting. He won a Texas State Teacher’s Association School Bell award for his coverage of corruption in El Paso School districts, as well as an EMMA award for specialty reporting.
